Don't like riding alone?

Biking is a wonderful way to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors and generally relieve stress.  Riding alone can be fun, you can go at your own pace, go as far as you want and or ride whenever you want on your own schedule.

But are you getting bored or are looking to improve and are stuck in a rut?  Try joining a group in your area or creating your own group.

  1. Check out rides with local bike groups.
  2. Talk to the employees at your local bike shop they may have rides scheduled or can point you in the right direction.
  3. If you ride on a trail talk to other riders at rest stops.  Most of us are always willing to share.
  4. Think about starting your own group using people in your spheres.
    1. Talk to HR at work and maybe they are willing to help form a bike fitness group
    2. Form a fellowship group with people at your place of worship
    3. get some friends and neighbors to join you.
But most of all have fun riding!

I'll be adding links to recurring rides I hear about on velog-tracker.com so check it out occasionally to see if I know about rides in your area.

Riding on the trail

Interesting ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail today.  Weather was beautiful early on cool but damp under the tree canopy.  Lots of wildlife across the trail today, even more interesting was the accident on a piece of the trail that was covered in mud.  Couple on a tandem cut off another individual just as he got to the slick spot.  Of course he ate it, the couple and I stopped to help.  Poor guy was covered in mud and had some really good road rash on his arms, not to mention being covered head to toe in mud.  Life on the trail continues....

Biking on the road

Found this article out of Canada that highlights the issues of riding on the road.  Granted some of these incidents may be the cyclist's fault, overall it shows that we need to educate both cyclists and drivers on the rules of the road.

Little Miami Scenic Trail

Went riding on the Little Miami Scenic trail last Saturday after the big storms on that side of Cincinnati.  Just north of where the trail splits of for the Lebanon spur ran into this washout from the overpass over the trail.
